Wisdom Teeth Removal

Most wisdom teeth don't have room to come through cleanly. When they cause pain, infection or damage to neighbouring teeth, removal is often the right call. We perform straightforward extractions in-house and refer more complex cases to a trusted oral surgeon.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

We start with a panoramic x-ray to see exactly where the wisdom teeth are sitting and whether they're impacted, partly through, or fully erupted.

Simple extractions are done under local anaesthetic in about 30–60 minutes. You'll be able to drive yourself home afterwards. Recovery is typically 3–5 days.

For impacted lower wisdoms, deep roots near the nerve, or anxious patients who prefer general anaesthetic, we refer to a specialist oral surgeon and continue your aftercare.

Common questions

Do I need to have my wisdom teeth out?
Not always. If they're causing no symptoms and there's room, we usually leave them alone and monitor. Removal is recommended when they cause pain, infection, decay or crowding.
How painful is the recovery?
Most patients manage with paracetamol and ibuprofen for 2–3 days. Swelling and bruising are normal. We'll send you home with detailed instructions.
Will my health fund cover it?
Most extras-cover policies contribute toward wisdom teeth removal. We claim on the spot via HICAPS so you only pay the gap.
