The most common emergencies we see are severe toothache (usually from an abscess or exposed nerve), broken or chipped teeth, lost fillings and crowns, and sports trauma. We can treat all of these in-house.

If you've knocked a tooth out, time matters. Hold it by the crown (not the root), rinse it with milk if possible, and either re-insert it into the socket or bring it in milk. Call us on the way.

Out of hours, our voicemail provides advice and the nearest after-hours dental service. We'll see you first thing the next morning.

Common questions

What counts as a dental emergency?
Anything that involves uncontrolled bleeding, severe pain that paracetamol won't touch, a knocked-out adult tooth, or significant facial swelling. When in doubt — call.
How quickly can I be seen?
We hold emergency appointments daily. Call before 10am and you'll usually be seen the same day.
What if it happens at night or on Sunday?
Leave a message on our line and we'll call you back first thing. For severe trauma overnight, the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne has an emergency service.
